A Date with Destiny

April 2, 2007--that is the date. The date that has changed everything. Prior to that date, Craig and Julie were free to go and do as they pleased. They could throw the dog in the car and get out of town. Spontaneous trips to a favorite restaurant or to catch a movie were part of the program. Craig and Julie had the freedom to, well...date.

Oh how 4/2/07 has changed that. Projectile pee (yes, girls do that too apparently) and what seems like non-stop trips to the "Diaper Genie" (if you had a baby prior to 1999, you probably used what we in the business refer to as a "trash can" to dispose of diapers--we, on the other hand, summon the services of a has been genie to sit on top of about 25 poo bombs and magically make the odor disappear) have replaced the previously mentioned footloose and fancy freedom we experienced as newlyweds. Now, one might get to this point in my rant and mistakenly think I am complaining--au contraire. Acknowledgment of change is not the same as complaining of change. I'm told a picture says a thousand words, so I'll let the 4,000 words below explain why I would trade all of the spontaneous trips in the world for sweet little Sydney Claire. Absolutely amazing.

Innocence Lost

Last night we attended our first child birth class and the instructor thought it would be a good idea to show us a video--I was so not ready for that.

Blah, Blah, Blog.

So it's official, I've given in to the adult version of a 5th grade girl's diary--the "blog", for those who aren't familiar with what it is you're looking at. Sure, we pretend that this is different or somehow more acceptable because it isn't pink with a pretty little lock on it (although the polka dots you see before you may be too close for comfort--Julie's selection for the record). But as we lay our pretty little heads on our pillows at night, we know deep down we are keeping, correction...we are sharing the high-tech equivalent of a man-diary.

The sole distinction boils down to content: young girls = puppies, weddings, babies, future white picket fences. "Mature", young adults = weddings,...puppies,...babies,...and um,...2-bedroom apartments? Okay, so scratch that--apparently the resemblance is uncanny. (And you can be sure each of said topics will make their way onto this page)

All of this said, welcome to our blog, where we are sure to ramble on about both the mundane and the momentous. We look forward to sharing with you.
