Sydney...where are your Trix??

I gave Sydney some Trix cereal for a snack the other day and I thought to myself "wow, she ate those so fast!" Then I got her up from her highchair and Craig started laughing. He said "you have to see this!" Here's what I found:

The Trix got stuck to her diaper!! Hahahahaha!

Muffin Tin Monday

I got this idea from one of my mommy friends. The idea is to fill each muffin cup with something different in hopes that it will encourage your child to try new foods since it's fun. Well Sydney definitely had fun eating out of the muffin tin, but she ended up leaving what she normally does. Still such a cute idea and something we'll try to start doing every Monday.

From Left to Right: Peas, Mandarin oranges, mashed potatoes, breaded chicken (what I made for dinner), bananas and Ritz crackers.

Hmm...where do I start?? Oranges of course!!

Our day 08/01/08

This past Friday, I had the day off from work so I decided to document our day in pictures to show Craig what we did all day. Enjoy!

Splash park fun!

We went to Celebration Park in Allen for Katelyn Kouba's 2nd birthday. Sydney had a ball in the splash park. As mentioned previously, this girl loves being in the water. It was a little piece of heaven on earth for her.

With her BFF Madison! (they're only 2 weeks apart in age)

Fun in the sprinkler

Sydney loves being in the water. Any time I water the plants, she wants to run through the hose. Here she is playing in the sprinkler in the front yard. She thought it was so fun!

Family day in the yard

My parents came up last weekend and I decided to put them to work this time. I had this completely empty spot in our landscaping that I needed to fill in plus I knew we needed to re-mulch some of the flower beds. Thank goodness they were here!! I lucked into some pretty great landscaping when we bought the house but when it comes to buying new plants and soil and mulch, I didn't know the first thing. So I let my mom just run around Home Depot picking stuff out. Then we got back and got to work. Here are some pics of the before:

Going to get rid of this vine on the fence

The empty flower bed we are filling

Sweet Sydney trying to help us...she was very eager!

The duck pond incident

Last weekend I convinced Craig that we needed to take Sydney to a duck pond near our house. He was thinking that hanging out in the 100 degree weather wouldn't be that fun, but he begrudgingly obliged to my request. So we packed up Sydney, the stroller, the video camera, the diaper bag, our regular camera, and some bread to feed the ducks of course. Everything started out great. Sydney kept saying DUCK and throwing bread on the ground instead of at the ducks.
Look mommy, a duck!

Come here duckies, I have bread!

Then it happened. Sydney and I are feeding the ducks, Craig is getting pictures of this momentous occasion and then we hear this giant splash. We turn around to see our stroller sinking in the duck pond. So Craig, being the fast thinker he is, jumps into the pond and starts throwing stuff up on the shore. Sydney starts crying (I think she was scared by all the commotion) and I'm just standing there in disbelief. Here are the after effects of what happened:

Needless to say, there were a few casualties on this trip. Our video camera that we just bought less than a month ago, didn't make it. Nor did all the videos we had already taped on (and of course hadn't downloaded yet). I also lost my cell phone in "the incident." I kept saying "well at least the baby wasn't in the stroller!" I'm not sure if that made Craig feel any better. I did get a new blackberry out of the deal so I guess that's our (I mean, my) silver lining.

The 4th of July

I'm a little late posting this but it's too cute to pass over. Sydney had a 4th of July parade at her daycare so my friend Joanna and I went over to see what it was all about. They had all the parents, friends and family line up in a circle behind some cones. Then the littlest kids (which is Sydney's class) started off the parade. They had made these flags that they were waving and they walked around in the circle. Well...except my kiddo of course. She bolts out the door and heads straight for the crowd of people--obviously not staying in the line like she should. Of course everyone thinks this is the cutest thing and starts laughing. Then I called her name and after searching the crowd for a second she spots me and runs over. I give her a quick hug and then she jumps back in line with her class to complete the circle. I was just kicking myself for not having the video camera with me!! Here are some pics of her from when we got home. They painted red and white stripes on one of her cheeks and a star on the other.
