Why, why, why, why, why, why, why??????

WHY is Sydney's new favorite word. I guess I knew this would come eventually and I love that she's so inquisitive, but OH MY GOSH! She's driving me NUTS!! I can't say anything without her asking why. Here's an example of a conversation we had today in the car:

Sydney: Can we go to the park?
Mommy: No, it's wet outside.
Sydney: Why is it wet outside?
Mommy: Because it's been raining all day.
Sydney: Why is it raining?
Mommy: I guess God wanted it to rain today.
Sydney: Why did God want it to rain today?
Mommy: I don't know why he wanted it to rain.
Sydney: Why don't you know?
Mommy: You are making me crazy with all the whys.
Sydney: Why am I making you crazy with all the whys?

And 'I don't know' is never a good enough answer...neither is 'because' or 'because I said so.' I wonder how long this stage lasts. :)

A nap in a fort

Sydney's favorite thing to do right now is to make forts. Last week I helped her make one and then she decided that she wanted to take a nap in it as well. It was pretty cute!

A simple toy

Harper's favorite toy right now are link-a-doos. I think every baby has these and I don't remember Sydney really caring one way or the other about them. Harper, however, absolutely loves them!

A new park

The weather has been so great here lately that Sydney and I are starting to exhaust our park options. One day we drove to a new park to play at and while we were there I was chatting with another mom who said there was another nice park less than a mile from the one we were at. The next day Sydney and I decided to check it out and we LOVE it. The actual playground is pretty standard and while Sydney does have lots of fun there, it's nothing out of this world. What I like so much about it, are the trails all around it that we can walk on. So, if you have a chance and are looking for somewhere new to go, check out Chisholm Trail Park!

Fall at our house

One of the things I love the MOST about our house are the 3 giant oak trees we have. However, with those giant oak trees come millions of leaves and acorns. This is our second Fall in the house so we pretty much new what to expect when it came to the leaves. We do not remember though the crazy amount of acorns. Sometimes while we sit inside we feel like we are in a war zone with the acorns falling off the trees and pounding our roof. I took some pictures so you can see what I'm talking about but I don't think it quite does it justice.

Our entire lawn looks like this, you can't walk in the yard without hard-soled shoes on.

A close up of the amount of acorns...this is probably 6 square inches.

Just one of the many many piles of leaves we'll rake this Fall.

Harper's dedication

We dedicated Harper this past Saturday night at church. Dedication at a Saturday night service is way different from a Sunday morning service. I think there were probably 25 other couples the morning we dedicated Sydney and only 4 others when we dedicated Harper. We are so thankful that God has given and entrusted us with such a special gift!

Sydney's first haircut

Since Sydney's hair is curly (still not sure where she got that from but I LOVE it), it wasn't too obvious that she needed a haircut. Craig kept joking that it was starting to look like a curly mullet and I think all his joking finally made me see the truth...it was turning into a mullet. We decided to let Heidi cut her hair for the first time since she cuts both mine and Craig's hair as well. Craig got his hair cut first and Sydney seemed to be excited about getting hers done as well. Not so much!! She was fine at first and then started crying and wanting to hold my hand. Heidi was great and worked fast to get her hair cut. It turned out so cute too...it's a little bob!

Looking and cute and ready for her haircut!

And the waterworks begin!

Sharing of shake with mommy after the haircut...you can see the finished product here!

Halloween 2009

This year the girls both dressed up as fairies. We took them to the Fall Festival at church and Sydney had a great time playing all the games. The hardest part of the night was getting her to leave!

Sydney watching me get Harper ready

No wings for Harper...couldn't find any that tiny!

Madi and Sydney - BFF's!

Playing her first game - "Cookie Walk"...she actually WON!

Racing babydoll strollers with Madi...well they
were supposed to race, they really just strolled.

Sydney put the canopy down on her baby's stroller
because she thought the sun was getting in her eyes!

Throwing balls into buckets....she kind of cheated at this game.

Showing me her loot!

Riding on the train with daddy.

Fishing for Bible verses

Happily climbing into the bouncy house...

Not happy at the top of the slide! Don't worry, after
I snapped the pic, I climbed up the slide to help her down.
